ATI Radeon X1900 Graphics Hardware Reviewed

ExtremeTech reviews the new ATI Radeon X1900 graphics cards.

The X1800 XL, upon launch, was clocked far beneath the X1800 XT, yet it was priced $100 less at a still very expensive $449. We had a hard time recommending it when the price was 20% less and the performance difference was more substantial. We don't have any such reservations about the X1900 XT. It is also $100 less expensive than the top dog in the ATI lineup, but this time the clock rates are lowered just a hair. In many games, the difference in performance is just 2 or 3 frames per second. For a $100 difference in price, we can live with it. In fact, with the same cooling solution and the same RAM on the XT boards as you'll find on the XTX, it's quite possible that you may be able to overclock it to XTX levels or beyond. Though it's quite expensive, the Radeon X1900 XT is really a pretty fantastic deal. It's selling for about $200 less than those 512MB GeForce 7800 GTX cards, and in some games it actually outperforms it. [ExtremeTech]

Well, if you have $550 to spend for a video card that is "up there" with the likes of the GeForce 7800 GTX, the Radeon X1900 XT would probably be the best buy (for now).
