Upgrade Your Router with Open Source Software

Engadget reports that you can upgrade the firmware of your Linksys WRT54G [version 4 and below] Wi-Fi router, adding new features such as the abiliy to run as a VPN or VoIP server, RADIUS server, and more.

... by upgrading the firmware, you can turn the WRT54G into the equivalent of a $600 workhorse. [Engadget]

If you are in the market for a router, but cannot find a Linksys WRT54G v.4 (or below) model, you can just go to the OpenWrt Table of Hardware page to see the other routers you can possibly upgrade.
