Budget Gaming Graphics Cards for January 2008

card imgTom's Hardware suggests the best gaming graphics cards for the money, for January 2008.

"Don't worry too much about which brand you choose, because all of the cards out there stick pretty close to the reference designs by Nvidia and ATI. Just pay attention to price, warranty and the manufacturer's reputation for honoring the warranty if something goes wrong." [Tom's Hardware]

For entry level PCI-E cards, you could spend about US$100 for a Radeon HD 2600 XT or GeForce 8600 GT. If budget is at a premium, the Radeon 2600 PRO, an underclocked 2600 XT, can be seen as low as $70.

For entry level AGP cards, you can look for a Radeon X1650 PRO ($65) or a Radeon HD 2600 XT ($110).
