Fon.com is the official website of the world's largest Wi-Fi community. The community members (called Foneros) purchase a La Fonera, a special Wi-Fi "social" router that turns your broadband connection into a wireless access point.

There are three kinds of Foneros: Linuses, Aliens, and Bills. Linuses share their connection at home, and get free access from other Foneros. Aliens do not share their home connection, but pay US$3 per day to access the Fon community Wi-Fi. Bills are Foneros who make money with their connection, getting 50% share of the money from Aliens.
Alternatively, you can skip the purchase of a La Fonera Wi-Fi router if you already have a router that is compatible with the FON software. These routers are: Linksys G/GL / GSV1-v3 / GSV4, Buffalo WZR-RS-G54 / WHR-G54S / HP-G54. Great concept!
