ASROCK 939NF4G-SATA2 Motherboard Reviewed

board picGamepyre reviews the ASROCK 939NF4G-SATA2, an AMD Socket 939 motherboard that features: micro-ATX form factor, Nvidia Geforce 6100 nForce 410 chipset, 1GHz HyperTransport Bus Link, Dual Channel DDR (up to 4 GB), PCI Express x16 graphics support, 8-channel audio, 3.0 GB/s SATA (0, 1 RAID), and USB 2.0.

On the whole, ASRock has come out swinging here with a very economical alternative to the RS480 motherboards out there. Offering equal features pound for pound, it now gives users another choice, complete with a few unique features (such as the full compatibility with Pentium 4 Heatsinks). While we would have liked to see a more hospitable overclocking environment, it only stands to reason that an MCP that is burdened with a graphics processor inside is only capable of going so far before its end is met. Unfortunately, this limit was abysmally low, to the eventual tune of no ability to overclock due to overheating North and Southbridges. Granted, this disappointment comes from an overclocker's standpoint, one which a vast majority of those purchasing these motherboards won't share. As such, for their target market, ASRock has done a great job - so much so of one, that this will be taking up a place in my Mobile Multimedia Machine, a position which definitely isn't easy to secure. Are you looking for a micro-ATX Socket 939 motherboard with built-in graphics, and at the same time supports PCI-E X16 (in case you would like to upgrade to a discreet graphics card later)? The 939NF4G-SATA2 seems to be a safe bet. If you are willing to hold off your build (or upgrade), you may want to wait for an Nvidia Geforce 6150 nForce 410 chipset model.
