OQO model 01+ - Windows XP in the Palm of Your Hand

The OQO model 01+ is about the size of most PDAs on the market, but instead of running Windows Mobile, it runs a full version of Windows XP. The tiny computer comes with a 1 GHz processor, 512 MByte of RAM, a 30 GByte hard drive and you can write on the screen with the included stylus. A protective cover slides up to reveal the full keyboard (with very small keys) and the 5-inch display. The screen has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. and can be read be outdoors.

This Windows XP computer can fit in the palm of your hand sports a full keyboard and a 30 GByte hard drive. OQO, in the hopes of improving some criticisms of their previous model, has added enhancements such as USB 2.0 and improved pen recognition. ... The OQO model 01+ is currently available for $1900. [TG Daily]

Ced's Note: The ultimate laptop/tablet/PDA replacement? Probably when the price goes down. With $1900 to spend, you most probably can purchase a laptop with a 12" screen with similar (or better) specs, plus an optical drive/burner, and still have enough money to get a decent PDA.

OQO it's a really nice machine. I can’t wait to see more of these kind of machines on the market. I believe OQO 01+ is just an interim version until Intel comes with a better processor. The current version of OQO uses a slower Transmeta processor.

minipcs,

I agree that the OQO is great, and has lots of potential. As more models (and hopefully more manufacturers) come, I'm sure that not only Via, but Intel and AMD would readily support the MiniPC platform.
